Experiment 3: The Bridge - Week 2: Moving Elements

| Conceptualising Ideas for the Moving Elements |

Concept One

An extending room that is able to expand the space available to students and staff. It aims to represent an innovative method of overcoming space restrictions for social events and/or representing student work in a transformed gallery space.

Concept Two

A web like mesh structure forms the basis of this concept. The overlapping and intertwining of these flexible steel cords are connected to a weatherproof plastic fabric. With this installed on a roof, controls simply enable the fabric to fold into it self as it moves into a hidden compartment. When the roof is initiated to go into the compartment, it opens up the space by bringing the interior to the exterior. When the roof is closed, sunlight is still able to penetrate through the plastic whilst creating interesting shadows.
